Foundation Media Design Workshop: Unity Game Development
Mr. Ernest Chan, Founder and Managing Director, AESIR.HK, was invited to deliver a 2-session foundation workshop on Unity game development. The workshop serves as an additional initiative to consolidate the media design skills of undergraduates in the Department of Journalism and Communication.
The workshop offered an opportunity for students in the programs of Bachelor of Arts (Honors) in Journalism and Mass Communication (BA-JMC) and Bachelor of Arts (Honors) in Media Design and Immersive Technology (BA-MDIT) to consolidate their media design skills. Year-2 and Year-3 BA-MDIT students are particularly encouraged to join.
JMC Talk: Mr. Rudi Leung
Mr. Rudi Leung, Founder & Director, Hungry Digital Limited, was invited to speak at the monthly JMC Talk titled “5 Tips for Tomorrow's Ad People (That No One Tells You in School)” on Sep 16, 2025. He shared some practical tips and work examples to help students get prepared before entering the advertising industry.
Rudi is a musician turned adman. He served as Creative Director, Strategy/Digital Director, Vice President, and General Manager at various international ad agencies (Ogilvy, Leo Burnett, Bates, TBWA\HK, Carat, AGENDA/Wunderman, and DDB Tribal). He was the Digital Marketer of The Year (HKAIM Media Convergence Awards) in 2014. His social media page on advertising and marketing is well-received by followers.
Research Paper Authored by Dr. Jing Guo Awarded the Best Faculty Paper at the ICA 2025
A research paper authored by Assistant Professor Dr. Jing Guo from the Department of Journalism and Communication of HKSYU has been awarded the Best Faculty Paper in the 2025 International Chinese Communication Association (ICCA) at the International Communication Association (ICA). The paper, entitled “Revisiting China’s Internet Censorship in the ‘Repression-Dissent Puzzle’: Effects of Censorship Experiences through Negative Emotions Arousal”, examined the mechanism and effects of Internet censorship on Chinese public.
This study was presented during 2025 ICA annual conference in Denver, United States on June 13. It is a top academic conference in the field of journalism and communication studies.
